In love with my VI-Spring

My ViSpring mattress was delivered 6 days ago and I am in shock!!  Who knew a mattress could make such a difference!?  It is a genuine miracle!

As the Sales Manager at McElheran’s Fine Furniture I’ve had complete faith in ViSpring since the beginning. After visiting the plant in Plymouth, England, and seeing the production process firsthand, I was even further convinced me that they represent one of the very best mattresses made in the world today.  Like so many of our customers, I bought a very expensive mattress just 2 years ago and, even though I have been unhappy with it, I simply could not justify buying another one so soon.

Both my husband George and I have endured achy joints, sore back and fitful sleep for what seems like years. We truly believed all of these things are part of the aging process and we would just need to accept it and live with it.  NOT SO!!!

We bit the bullet and made the plunge.  We invested in a ViSpring mattress and within 5 minutes on the first night we found ourselves saying “It was worth it”.  George is actually sleeping soundly for more than an hour longer than he has been and we both literally wake up pain free and rested!  I have had two major back surgeries in my life and never expected I would sleep comfortably again.  I am positively thrilled to say that is not true.  The best part?  With ViSpring’s lifetime warranty we will never buy another mattress!

Do you hear that?  My bed is calling me, “Helen, come to bed!”  I think everyone should be sleeping on a mattress that calls to you! Thank you ViSpring and thank you McElheran’s for having the foresight to bring this line to Canada!

“Life Changing” VI-Spring beds arrive at bridal hotel

EIGHT handmade beds, costing up to £20,000 each, were yesterday delivered to the hotel where Kate Middleton and her family will spend the night before she marries Prince William. They are individually crafted to fit like a glove and give a ‘life-changing’ sleep according to bed-maker Vi-Spring.

Staff at the five-star Goring Hotel near Buckingham Palace would not reveal if the beds were for Kate’s five-room ‘royal suite’ which is said to have undergone a £150,000 makeover for her stay. But that didn’t stop onlookers speculating. ‘It looks like the hotel is pulling out all the stops to ensure Kate and her family enjoy a comfortable stay during what will be a very nervous time,’ one said.

VI-Spring Tour

EnglandAnne and I were given the opportunity by VISpring to tour their factory as well as witness firsthand how London retailers inform and marry their customers to the perfect VISpring mattress for them.

We decided to turn this trip into a mini holiday where we went sight seeing in and around London. Upon our arrival we navigated Hyde Park, waved to the Queen at the Palace and indulged in a plate of fish and chips.

With that out of the way we spent the next day at Westminster Abbey and The British Museum (where we were in awe of the Elgin Marbles). They were a bucket list thing for me and an eye opener for Anne.

Hyde Park Our day excursion outside of London to Hampton Court was a colourful experience with the locals (ask us). Hampton court is a castle that dates back to medieval times and was finished by Christopher Wren during the Renaissance.

We then spent a day apart doing our own thing I went museums and Anne went shopping.

Friday we connected with the VISpring group and so began our journey into the professional world of Fine Hand Built Mattresses.

We toured London retailers who sell and specialize in VISpring.

These included And So To Bed, Selfridges and of course Harrods’s!

VI-Spring Mattress before tuftingEach store had a slightly different take on how to demonstrate the proper mattress for the individual. But they all had the common goal of making certain that each customer was getting the correct firmness and comfort to promote a sound, restful sleep. Anne and Bruce both benefited greatly from this experience….. the mattress specialist at Harrods was especially helpful and demonstrated a knowledge base that was most impressive. Just an FYI  VISpring is Harrods premiere mattress and VISpring has it’s own gallery within Harrods. Two models exclusive to Harrods are both made by VIspring!

Anne Side Stitching Upon arriving at Plymouth we toured the harbour and waterfront taking in the sea air and smells of the various restaurants wafting thru the narrow streets.

Our tour of the factory and VISpring headquarters demonstrated the breadth of the product line as well as the truly handmade quality that the dedicated workers put into each and every mattress.

Here we saw the entire mattress building process from the raw materials thru to the shipping of finished product. All fibres are natural and there is no off-gassing. Their exclusive alloy springs are spun cold (not tempered) which contributes to the longevity of their tensile strength.Bruce in Plymouth

VI-Spring Trip 2010 Pymouth England

Early in February, we were given an amazing opportunity to visit the VI-Spring factory in Plymouth, England.  As one of the first Canadian dealers, we were delighted to receive the training and get the inside scoop on their amazing facility

We spent a total of 7 days in England, with 2 ½ days on our own, doing some site seeing in London. We did it all, beginning with taking in the show, Dirty Dancing, at the Aldwych Theatre.  Knowing a 7 hour time difference was going to be challenging, we felt we’d save our strength for shopping!

Judy Bearskin HatThe next two days we were up bright and early to take in the sites and shopping. Our bus tour was the perfect way to see the city.  We stopped at Saint Paul’s Cathedral, Piccadilly Circus and took in the changing of the guard at Buckingham Palace.  So much to see!  London is a fascinating city. Of course, the tour would not have been complete without stopping for fish n’ chips at an authentic English pub.

With tour time coming to a close, our VI-Spring training was launched when we met up with our fellow North American retailers.  Eleven of us, in total, were there to discover VI-Spring.

Kristy HarrodsSaturday started with a jam packed day of touring the department stores carrying the VI-Spring mattresses. The one stop that grabbed everyone’s attention was Harrods Department Store, boasting the finest mattress gallery in London.  Their VI-Spring display was beautiful, as was the entire store.   Later in the evening, our hostess, VI-Spring’s Lesley Smith, treated us to a flight on the London Eye followed by dinner at an exquisite restaurant called Simpson’s, famous for their roast beef and Yorkshire pudding.

Sunday was our 3 ½ hour relaxing train trip to Plymouth, England, where the VI-Spring Factory is located.  We enjoyed beautiful ocean views and countryside.  Upon arrival, we settled into our hotel and, following a late lunch, enjoyed a nice walk around the docks, the lighthouse and the quaint cobblestone streets of old Plymouth.  Later that evening we gathered again for a lovely dinner at Morgan’s Brasseries and Bar.  The wine was flowing and a good time was had by all.

Monday was factory day, and we have never seen a staff so proud and passionate about their company. They were happy to take time to show off their expertise.  It was incredible to witness the wire being manufactured and turned (6) VI times.  It was then pocketed creating coils with 4 different levels of firmness.  The incredible blending of natural fibres, hand stitching and attention to details left us absolutely wowed. The staff was very professional and the factory was run like a well oiled machine. We even had the opportunity to do some Tina Turner dancing using their showroom’s string curtains!  Hard working AND fun loving!

The overall trip was very educational and, if we had to do it over again, we would!
